Grant Making

Grant Making

Step 1: Determine your eligibility

The Woodworth Family Foundation supports nonprofit 501(c)(3) organizations in Tacoma and Pierce County whose projects emphasize education, youth services, health care and human services. Our grants range from $1,000 to $25,000.

Step 2: Submit a Letter of Inquiry

A Letter of Inquiry (LOI) provides us with detailed information about your organization, program, and overall alignment with our goals. Please review the LOI instructions carefully to ensure that your submission includes all of the required information. There are no deadlines for LOIs. We respond to all LOIs within 60 days.

We may either grant from this letter or, for larger grants, request a proposal for further review.

Step 3: Submit a proposal (by invitation only)
Following review of your LOI, we will contact you if you have been selected to submit a proposal. At this point, we will share specific proposal guidelines, provide a list of required documents, and assign a due date for submission.

Step 4: Proposal review and response
The entire process from proposal application to Board decision generally takes from 3 to 6 months.

Grant reporting requirements are determined by grant amount and project specifications. Requirements will be outlined in award notification letters.
